1.1. Introduction
Brief presentation of the subject
General Surgical Pathology II.
The overall objective of this course is to give aconoce the student of Dentistry fundamentals and principles governing the surgical activity in general and provide the necessary methods to acquire the conocmientos on the most common disease entities of surgical pathology particularly important in those related to dental activity.
In the development of this subject specifically address the Anesthesiology (includes local anesthesia, loco-regional, general and sedation) Treatment of pain and the basic measures needed to achieve resuscitation.
Likewise the disease entities of organ and tissue transplants, surgical infections, diseases and pathology of nerve, neuritis, trauma and tumors as well as musculoskeletal disorders and circulatory system detailing.
In the practical part, know the surgical terminology, the instrumental, the operating facilities, operating rooms, PACU, ICU and techniques used in antisepsis, antisepsis and hemostasis, alterations of the internal environment and nutrition, antibiotic and thromboembolic prophylaxis, and fundamentals of surgical and anesthetic activity for small surgical interventions and cures.
1.2. Recommendations to take this course
To take this course it is necessary that the student has studied the subjects developed in Module I and General Surgical Pathology I. It is recommended to have a sound knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology
To achieve the learning outcomes and skills development, students will have to attend and participate in at least 80% of the planned seminars and practical classes in the programming of the subject. attendance and participation at lectures to students is recommended. It is also advised that students see bibliography recommended by the teacher.
1.3. Context and importance of this course in the degree
The subject detro of Pathology and Therapeutic Medical Surgical General module fits to develop in the 2nd year and 4th semester of Degree of Dentistry, whose meaning is to provide students with the mediosnecesarios to know the most common disease entities of the General surgical pathology and Anesthesiology and resuscitation in particular.
1.4. Activities and key dates
The academic calendar established by the University of Zaragoza for 2nd term subjects will continue
The lectures will begin delivering the first day of collective class, with the following schedule: Proposed established by the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport for this subject. Once I fianlizado the thematic block, the first seminar on the matter that will be done. In the same way it will be done with the IV thematic blocks that make up the subject. Given the teaching weeks of the 2nd semester of the academic year 2014-15, both theoretical classes taught by teachers as seminars on these issues they will be fully developed in the last week of May 2015.
After each subject the student will deliver the work on the developed material, which will be presented at the seminar for that block. It is anticipated that the first work should be presented in the 2nd week of March the 2nd in the 1st week of April the 3rd in the 1st week of May and the 4th in the 4th week of May 2015.
Laboratory practices, will be held in groups of 8 students in school hours designated for this purpose (see proposed by the Academic Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport hours) and throughout the semester. Hospital practices, will be conducted in groups of two students, in the morning, 9.00 to 15.00, on set days to complete 20 hours of hospital practices. Such practices will begin two weeks after the start of the lectures, to allow the student to have a minimum basis for understanding the actions and surgical procedures.

Distinguish normal from pathological, recognizing the signs and symptoms of the diseases under study
Knowing and applying the principles that govern all surgical activity
Understand the concepts of sterility to apply in the surgical field and in the proper use of surgical instruments.
Collaborate with the surgeon, in patients whose conditions behave affectation or dental commitment
2.2. Importance of learning goals
Knowledge and ability to apply the principles that govern all surgical activity
Knowing and applying methods and techniques to make the patient insensible to pain and protect against psychic and somatic aggression, before, during and after surgery
Maintain vital functions in optimal conditions both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and be able to resuscitate patients who are in critical condition.

The objectives set to achieve with the development of this area are:
to publicize the pathophysiologic principles that are based surgical conditions and provide students with the necessary methods to acquire knowledge of common disease entities of Surgical Pathology.
In addition, the approach of this course students will be provided the necessary methods to learn and apply techniques to reduce or eliminate pain, both produced by diferntes surgical procedures such as that resulting from diseases of other etiology.

-Being able to make a diagnosis trial and apply the appropriate therapeutic measures, making an effective differential diagnosis.
4.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria)
The student must demonstrate that it has achieved the intended learning outcomes through the following evaluation activities
Objective tests of knowledge and solving exercises and practical (70% of the final grade) cases The test will consist of: a written exam consisting of 10 multiple choice questions with 5 items of which only one is right (2 points, each correct question has a value of 0.2 points, the question blank does not count and the wrong subtracts 0.1). 4 short questions (4 points) and 2 essay questions (4 points).
Acquisition of practical skills developed in the laboratory and hospital practices (15% of the final grade). It is valued: the attitude and aptitude of the student, their interest and skills acquired.
Realization and defense of work on specific topics of the subject, with special emphasis on issues involving something new, whether diagnostic or therapeutic. (10% of the final grade). It valued the content of the exhibition, how to expose and novelty of the subject exposed
Student participation in all training activities of the subject (5% of the final grade). ASSISTANCE TO PRACTICES AND SEMINARS IS A MANDATORY to pass the course.

mandatory seminars will be held on the theoretical content of the thematic blocks.
Mandatory practices are conducted in the laboratory and mandatory practices in Surgery and Anesthesiology Services of San Jorge Hospital in Huesca
Students will complete and expondran a paper on a topic related to the subject.

Considering the academic calendar activities starting with the lectures by the teacher after each thematic block a seminar on developments on the block will be made they will be made. The seminar, which should be participatory, should exhibit their work students.
